"Hi. I'm Nancy Frensley. I'm the training manager at the Berkeley East Bay Humane Society in Berkeley, California. I'm here to talk with you about keeping an Old English Sheepdog as a pet. Now, if you want a dog that can handle extremes of weather, the Old English Sheepdog can. They are absolutely, boundlessly energetic. They have a great, beautiful, magnificent coat that you will need to take care of. But this coat is also protective in all sorts of weather. They have huge feet. So walking on snow is just not a problem for them. Your Old English will need a good diet that supports their weight, build, and their energy level, and their calorie needs. And your Old English is going to be a happy-go-lucky dog. Your Old English is going to want to do a lot of fun things. And so, you need to give them fun things to do. They might even learn to retrieve. But if you've got a little herd of sheep, they just might really be able to fulfill their instincts. Your Old English will want to round up your family and keep them together. And in general, this dog is just going to be a lot of fun for a lot of years."
