"I'm Nancy Frensley, and I'm the training manager at the Berkley East Bay Humane Society here at Berkley California, and we're going to be talking about the American Staffordshire Terrier. The American Staffordshire Terrier is very similar in many ways to the American Pitbull Terrier. But I think one the main differences is that the American Staffordshire Terrier has not for many, many, many, many generations been bred to fight, they have been primarily bred as a companion animal, so that's one of the main difference that you'll find, there are also physical differences. The American Staffordshire Terrier however, like most bully breeds has high energy, a great deal of enthusiasm, intelligence to spare, and they will be really great to have as a pet as long as you're willing to teach them to do things. So your American Staffordshire Terrier is going to be a dog that wants you to leave, that wants to learn things from you, and will be more than happy working for you for the rest of its life."
