"Hi I'm Nancy Frensley with the Berkeley East Bay Humane Society. We're in Berkeley, California and I'm the training manager so one of the things I am most interested in talking about is behavior in training and today we are going to be talking about caring for a Weimaraner. Now a Weimaraner is one of those big gray dogs with gray eyes. William Wakeman made them famous by taking pictures of them in all sorts of interesting poses and outfits as a matter of fact but they're a hunting dog and if you think about a hunting dog think about what they want to do. They want to get out and run, they want to chase things, they want to find some game for you even if you are not a hunter and in general they are going to act on all of those wonderful gun dog instincts they have. However, they also train up real nice. So when you have a Weimaraner you are dealing with a short coated dog. You are dealing with a large but very agile and versatile dog. I have seen great agility in Weimaraners and a good friend. So your Weimaraner is not going to need a whole lot of special care and of course with any dog you've got to pay attention to diet, exercise, plenty of water and good veterinary care."
