Video Transcript

"Hi, I'm Laura Campodonico, faux finisher and decorative artist, and we are mixing a glaze. The glaze is simply one third water, one third glaze, and one third paint. The paint you want to get, not in a flat finish, but in a satin or eggshell finish. You want to mix a third of the paint, a third of the water, and a third of the glaze, in a bucket, and then you stir it, and I'll show you, it comes out to look like the consistency of cream, heavy cream that you put in your, cook with, or cream that you put in your coffee, not too runny. Let's put some more glaze in there, because it does look a little runny, and I go a lot by consistency, but if you always follow the measurements, a third, a third, a third, a third water, a third glazing liquid, water based glazing liquid, and water based paint, you'll be fine, and it just starts to look like the consistency of cream, not too runny, and there you have a glaze. A third water, a third paint, and a third glazing liquid, and that is also, can be called a color wash, but this is what you put on your wall, to add a layer of dimension, and transparency to a flat based painted wall. Once you've mixed the glaze, I like to use a screen in it, and I use these rollers, they're called cigar rollers, but they're thinner. Napped rollers, this is a sponge that you can use. They're usually pink, and they have a nap, but a very short nap, and you just put the brush in there, and offload. Make sure you offload, because you're wanting not to get too much paint, once you apply in one place, and that's pretty much it. I'm Lorna Campodonico, and that's how to mix the glaze."
