"I'm Robert Markey and I have been doing carpentry for quite a while and we are going to talk about safety rules for a scroll saw. The first safety rule, plug the scroll in, be careful that it is not turned on. If it happens to be turned on then you've got a problem so make sure that is off, plug it in and we're good. The second thing is ear protection, it's loud. Wear earphones when you are cutting. Two other things. Since the blade is at the bottom underneath the wood and you can't see it there are two things that you have to be concerned about cutting, one is your fingers because often you are holding a board somehow and as you are coming around with the scrollsaw you are very much looking at the line that you are cutting as opposed to where you are holding it and you don't want to cut your fingers. Another issue which is very tricky is the chord because the chord is hanging down and as you come around you can cut right through the chord. You can see right there if I keep moving that chord is going to get through so you want to always make sure the chord is here so that we could keep cutting and it is not going to go through the chord or my fingers or clothing or anything else that is there. This is Robert Markey and we have been talking about the safety rules for a safety scroll."
