"Hi my name is Dr. Kim Makoi and I am a holistic chiropractor and certified addictionologist in San Francisco and this is how to treat a Soma addiction. Soma is a powerful muscle relaxant that people are often given after injuries and over time people can become addicted to it. After coming off of it they may notice that they also are having problems coping with their pain among other things so in treating a Soma addiction it is important to find a practitioner who is familiar with addictions in general because developing a Soma addiction is a signal that someone may have a genetic propensity to be addicted to a number of substances or behaviors so the approach is not just going to be to balance the physiology and reduce the dependence on the drug but also to prevent further addictions in the future being triggered. So this is going to usually involve lifestyle changes, working on the diet but also looking at the social environment of the patient and making sure that their living environment is conducive to staying healthy and off of the drug and that is how you treat a Soma addiction."
