"Hi my name is Lauren, and I'm here to discuss how to use a curling iron. In order to create a curly style by using a curling iron you're going to want to first section your hair. You're going to want to decide on what you're desired look is. You're going to choose a curling iron, the smaller the diameter curling iron the smaller the curl. Good rule of thumb is to take a piece of hair or section of hair that is about the same width as the diameter of your curling iron. You are then going to use a protective spray, you can use hairspray as well, but you want something that's going to just protect your hair from the hot tool. You're going to pull the piece of hair out away from your scalp, and then you're going to open up your duckbill of your curling iron and you're going to bring it down towards the end of your hair. You want to roll with the duckbill, so you want to have it go over the duckbill in that fashion. If you roll the opposite way you're going to wind up getting a fishhook at the ends, which will interrupt your curl, so you want to make sure you roll with it. After that is done you're going to drop the section, then you're going to grab another section about the same diameter. Again you're going to open up your duckbill, bring it down to the end so that way every piece of your hair actually gets curled, and then you're going to roll it back up towards the scalp. Good rule of thumb is also hold the top of your curling iron so that way you don't burn your ear or any other part of your scalp, and then you let go. And that is how to curl your hair with a curling iron."
