"Hi. I'm Lauren, and today, I'm here to discuss why is hair frizzy on humid days. One thing I want to do is just do a bit of a test. I want you to consider your hair to be more of like a sponge. And say if you put the sponge in a bowl full of water. The sponge is only going to soak up to its capacity. So therefore, it's not going to soak up everything. It will not, no matter how long you leave that in there, soak up the rest of that water. That is one of the main things with your hair, actually, getting frizzy on humid days. What the frizz actually is is your cuticle opening up and trying to grab moisture out of the air. Hair that lacks moisture is going to try and grab the moisture from the air. On very frizzy days, or humid days, what you should do is use a lot of leave-in conditioners on a daily basis. Leave-in conditioners are going to help give your hair the moisture that it needs. So therefore, your cuticle will not have to open in order to grab the moisture out of the air into your hair. Another good thing to do is use silicone-based products. Silicone-based products actually coat over the cuticle. They're more or less your oils and anti-frizz serums. What it's going to do is actually help your cuticle stay down. And it's going to make it harder for your hair, your cuticle, to actually open, which will prevent the frizz. But the best way to maintain your hair and prevent your hair from frizzing on a humid day is to go with your sponge theory and give your hair as much moisture as possible so that way there's no need for it to have to open to try to grab some out of the air. And that is how to tame frizzy hair on a humid day."
