"Hi my name is Lauren and today I am here today I am here to discuss how to get waves with a curling iron. When you are wanting to get more of that wavy look you are going to want to use more of a larger diameter curling iron depending on the length of your hair and how it holds. They have got the one and a half inch and the one inch, they're usually even the better ones. If your hair is very long you may want to go for a two inch curling iron. After your curling iron is heated up you are going to section your hair like so. You are going to work going in sections throughout your entire head. A good rule of thumb is to not take a section larger than the diameter of your curling iron. So you can actually even kind of measure it as to where you want it to go. Once you split the hair into that section you are then going to use a heat protectant or a setting spray in order to coat over the hair. Smooth it with your fingers, open up the duck bill. Now the duck bill you want to go with it so you want to roll with it in order that way your hair is not going that way and you get a fish hook. You are going to go all the way throughout your hair and set your hair in these little curled sections. Don't touch the curls until you are about done, just keep forming and adding more. Once you have your complete section you are going to take a little bit of the hair spray and you are going to set your hair. I usually do this after I have curled individually each one of the curls throughout my entire head. Spray over it with some hair spray in order to keep it, and have it sit for about five minutes almost like as if you are setting your hair so that way you give the hair spray time to dry. Then you are going to take some sort of palm aid or molding mud or some kind of clay, something that will help create smoothness and also add definition. Emulsify it really well into your hands and then you are simply going to finger through the curls that you have already put in. Now once you kind of finger through them you are going to release some of that curl and you are going to get more of that large S wave rather than that tight curl. Depending on how you get the style and how much you style your hair will depend on how easily this can actually be achieved for you. If you do have a natural wave to your hair it does wind up working out a little bit better because your curl will hold longer. If your hair is very very straight you may want to try using a smaller diameter curling iron. That will allow your hair to have a little bit more drop room because you want your hair is automatically going to fall so you want to make sure that it's tight enough where when your hair does fall the curl will not completely fall out and that is how to get wavy hair with a curling iron."
