"Hello my name is Scott and I'm the owner of Climb On indoor rock climbing gym in Wilmington, North Carolina. Today we are going to discuss alpine climbing. The first thing that I would do if I was going to venture into alpine climbing would be to get the proper instruction from a qualified professional. Alpine climbing is inherently dangerous and can lead to serious injury or death. Because of the weather, the situation that you are in, snow fall, ice, this makes it a lot more dangerous than rock climbing. Alpine climbing is generally done with clamp ons, ropes, ice picks and again to learn the use of these tools and the proper way to do it and to survive at an Alpine altitude proper instruction is needed. The best way to do that is through your indoor rock climbing gym or your local qualified guide. Any time we talk about taking an Alpine trip we want to make sure that we have got the right clothes for the weather, for the cold and to be able to survive in this type of situation. Again this has been Alpine climbing."
