Video Transcript

"Hi, my name is Scott, and I'm the owner of Climb On, indoor rock climbing gym in Wilmington, North Carolina. Today we're going to discuss how to equalize our anchor. Once you've got an anchor built for repelling, top roping or lead climbing, you want to be sure that everything is equalized. Very, very important in rock climbing. You're going to want to get proper instruction from your indoor climbing gym or your local climbing guide. Any time that we talk about equalization, we want each of these pieces to be equal at the end. Once you've got the gear in and you're ready to equalize, you want to make sure that all the forces are equal. Once you've got it equal, you're going to tie a figure eight, or an overhand knot in your webolette. Equalization is very important when it comes to anchor systems, so that is one thing fails, nothing gets shock loaded on your anchors. This has been equalization."
