"Hello my name is Scott and I'm the owner of Climb On indoor rock climbing gym in Wilmington, North Carolina. Today we are going to discuss how to belay while rock climbing. Rock climbing is inherently dangerous and can result in serious injury or death. With belaying you want to make sure that you get proper instruction from your local indoor rock climbing gym by a qualified professional. The belay device that I use is called an ATC guide. Once I am hooked up I'm going to take the slack out of the rope and wait for my climber to go through his commands. Belay is on, climb on. Once he begins to climb we are going to move the rope through the belay device to take the slack out so the rope goes up with the climber so that at any point that he falls all I have to do is go to my belay and hold up the climber. This has been how to belay a climber in rock climbing."
