"To teach a parrot to talk, you must remember, oh, two or three things. One is you have the parrot in a area where he's not distracted. And the other thing is make sure that you are not stressed and the bird is not stressed. A lot of times I use a clicker, and the clicker is if they do good, you make the clicking sound and give them a treat. Some birds take longer to learn to talk, other birds start picking it up quite soon. You need their attention, and that was one reason that you should get them in an area that is separate from the other distractions, and so forth. And, as long as they are paying attention, they will sooner or later learn to talk. Some of 'em, like I said, you need to be more patient, you need not to be stressed. Don't get upset if the bird doesn't say what you want it to say, or doesn't say it as clearly as you want. Give them time. They take time to learn, and, they all have their own personalities and so forth."
