"Birds are something that you need to think about a great deal before you get into it. They're basically a two year old child all of their lives. And if you've heard about the terrible twos, parrots are the same way. Each parrot is just like a human being. They have their own personalities, their own traits. Each one is different. They learn at different rates, they react at different things, different areas, and so forth. There are many kinds of parrots. There's the Capes, African Grays, Amazons, Macaws, Electras, Conures, Polinas, Lorries, Cockatiels, Budgies, just to name a few. Many of these birds are..have similar things about them, and some of 'em are quite different. This is Tierra, she's a Cockatoo. She's one of the smaller Cockatoos. Cockatoos do not have to be surgically sexed to know what they are. Most Cockatoos, with the females, their eyes are brown, and the males, they're black. And this is a little girl. I shouldn't say a little girl, she's an older girl. She's been a pet for a long time. The feeding habits of the birds are different to a certain extent, but in some ways they're quite common. Their reactions to human are somewhat different, and yet sometimes in ways they are very much the same."
