How Do Hardcore Vocalists Scream?

"Okay, basically how to hardcore vocal scream is pretty simple, but not everyone really knows how to do it. Me personally; I wasn't always able to do it, and frankly every time I tried I sounded like a little girl and it was really frustrating, because any time I heard other bands do it they always sounded cool, they always sounded really hard core, and I couldn't do it and I didn't know why. I had no idea, but what I learned and what I realized is what these people do is they get their vocals warmed up. If you just go on stage, don't sing at all, and then try to belt out a scream it's gonna', you're going to sound like a girl pretty much. There's no way around it, unfortunately. But what you need to do is you need to get your vocals warmed up. Now unfortunately, this is one of those things where usually you have to do by yourself because it's a little embarrassing; I mean, I go to my car and do it. But basically the way to do it is really just work out your vocal muscles, really kind of gurgle your throat, scream a couple of times, and keep doing it, and eventually you're going to realize your voice is starting to get raspier and raspier. And then the more you do it then you realize when you actually scream it sounds a lot different than when you did it before you warmed up, so make sure to do that before you're actually screaming. And like I said, just as a personal thing, I'd recommend doing it by yourself because you usually look like an idiot when you're doing it, but that's basically the way how to scream."
