Foot Problems Related to Ballet

Common foot problems related to ballet dancing include bunions, ingrown toenails, plantar fasciitis, corns, blisters and callouses. Prevent some foot issues from ballet by keeping the toenails short and massaging the bottom of the feet with help from an experienced dance instructor in this free video ballet lesson.

    Foot problems? Oh, dear Christ, There are so many! Oh-so-so many. Baseball, basketball and football players wear sneakers to absorb impact. But in ballet? Oh, buddy boy... there's nothing standing in-between your feet and the impact. Sneakers, tennis shoes and any other sports-footwear usually is loaded with gel inserts, heavy internal padding and those soles that have that spring. Shoes as protective as a tank with soldiers in full-Kevlar body-armor. In ballet, you're pretty much in stockings and slipper socks. Sadly, your own feet pretty much have to take it all in when you jump and land. Have you ever seen a real professional dancer's naked feet--especially a woman's?
