"The execution of ballet movement. Ballet is different form any other dance form in that we work from a turnstyle position. Our turnstyle does not come from our feet, it actually comes from our hips. We we would start in a parallel position, turning out from the hips and opening them up, our feet will open to the side. In this position you'll want to remember to keep the weight of your body through the balls of your feet, knees nice and straight, hips tucked under, the front of the hip flat, tummies in tight, shoulders down, chest open and long neck. You should feel as if there is an imaginary line pulling you down into the floor and up to the ceiling at the same time. As we do this and execute our portabra on movement of the arm positions we want to be sure that the shoulders do not rise, that there is grace and elegance in the hands, no tension, and that all of the movements look completely effortless."
