Well that honor goes to Mildred Day, who invented these treats back in the 1930s for a fund raiser for camp fire girls. She worked for Kellogg's and she came up with the idea as a great snack. Sometimes marsh mallows or cereal that is seasonal that is used to make these treats holiday specific. They are often homemade but one can find them in many stores, usually packaged under the Rice Krispie's brand. Rice Krispie's treats were invented in 1939 by Mildred Day and the staff at the Kellogg company, home economics department. The recipe was first published in 1941 and it has been a popular treat ever since. You can make them homemade from scratch or you can buy them at the store in many varieties. I don't know about you, but I love Rice Krispie treats and they've always been a favorite snack in our family.
