"Does boiling water make it distilled? Actually, it does not. So if you need distilled water at home, you're going to have to go to the store and purchase it. Boiling it will not make it distilled. The way that they act, that they make it, is they boil salted water, and when the vapor is cooled and collected, the salt and minerals are left behind. Distilled water is also very unpalatable in its natural state. Desalination plants must also add some minerals in order to make the water usable for general consumers. Distilled water is great for using in your irons or as coolant for your engines, but you don't want to drink it. It is not good for human consumption, so go ahead and purchase at the store, but don't bother boiling it 'cause boiling water does not make distilled water.
