"Let's talk about Frontline versus Advantage for cats. Both of these products are used in cats, and are used to control external parasites. Check with your veterinary clinic first. You always want to make sure that you're using the correct product for the correct type of animal, and make sure you're getting the right product. Advantage is for fleas only in cats. Make sure you're using Advantage and not Advantix, which is for dogs only, and that gets fleas and ticks. So Advantage is flea only. Frontline is tick and flea prevention. And so there are some diseases that can be caused by fleas and ticks and so Frontline will help prevent those, especially in outdoor cats that are roaming in the woods and things like that. Both of these products are topical. They're used monthly on the back part, between the shoulder blades, and are placed right on the skin. Frontline Plus has an insect growth regulator in it, which prevents flea eggs from being formed and hatched, and so you have that added benefit as well. So always talk to your regular clinic first, to your veterinary clinic, and make sure that you're getting the correct product and that you're using it on the right type of animal and the right way to use it as well."
