"Let's talk about how much sleep do kittens need. Newborns, typically need a lot of sleep. Right after they're born they need all that energy to convert anything they eat, all their nutrition. They need that for their immune system and they need that for growth. So, newborns will typically eat or nurse every two to four hours and they will sleep right after nursing for quite some time. So, as they get older, after about two weeks, two to four weeks they start getting more active. They start exploring their world a little bit, moving around more. And so they sleep less, but still quite a bit. Some people would tell you that an adult cat sleeps about twenty three hours a day. The one hour left is generally eating and annoying everybody else. But, kittens typically because they're growing so quickly do require quite a bit of sleep. It's good for brain function and again it's good for the immune system, growth, and digestion. And so, you know you want to basically just let kittens sleep when they're wanting to. Especially if they're newborns after nursing."
