"Hi my name is Pat Goodwin with Pat Goodwin Associates. And today I want to talk about how can gender discrimination impact a company. It could impact a company negatively or positively. Let's talk about the positive first. And impacting a company positively could bring a fresh approach to ideas so if you are a company that is heavily hired on the male side and then there are females brought in, you may find that they're offering of a fresh idea, a fresh approach, a creative way of doing something would be of great value to that organization. If you are looking to hire people from that's more of a female side and then you hire men, again, they are bringing in fresh ideas, possibly excellent problem solvers, strong abilities to visualize solutions, not that women are not, but if you understand the value that each individual brings, then you can look at how has that positively affected our company. On the negative side, there is a lot of progress have been made, but I'm sure that everyone is aware of lawsuits that have been brought about in years past when a company has allowed behavior, conduct, language to continue going on in the workplace when there have been discrimination lawsuits that have negatively impacted a company due to gender. So if this is not in place in your company where there is written in your policies and procedures manual, I would encourage you to make sure that it is implemented into your policies and procedures manual. If you do not have a polices and procedures manual, make sure that you get one, that's one of the most important things a company can put together. There are people that professionally do that for you that add specific requirements based on your job and your workplace and your company culture. But that can be put together pretty quickly, have your HR department look at hiring someone or outsourcing that particular task to make sure that every employee in your company knows what is the rules and regulations within your company so that it will not impact your company negatively and then make sure that they are getting workshops and they're getting training on how gender in the workplace from a negative standpoint can cause issues for the company that can even cause a company to go down. So it's a very serious matter and I would hope that this would be taken seriously and they could put some compliance measures in place that everyone understands. If there is a complaint made against an employee about a gender discrimination, make sure that there is a hearing, make sure that every, that the both sides are heard, not assuming that one party is guilty over the other, but that there is a fair hearing, that there is understanding about what went wrong and how this can not get out of hand any further."
