Video Transcript

"This is Athena Reich and I am a musician and an actor here in New York City and I also coach both music and acting. In this clip I'm going to talk about how to read tabs so take a look over here and this is tab, there are six lines and the top line is the first string and the first string is the bottom of your guitar over here. This is the first string, one, two, three, four, five, six. The bottom is the sixth string so it is E, A, D, G, B, D, Eddie Ate Dynomite Good Bye Eddie over here and sixth string, Eddie Ate Dynomite Good Bye Eddie. So this is what I just played with the beginning of tears in heaven so if you look over here on the tab it says 0, 2 so the second fret, these are your frets over here, this is first fret, second fret, third fret and it says 0 to 2 so I am going to go to 0 and that is when I play it and there is nothing on the neck and the second fret and the next thing is that this string which is the fifth string play at 0 and that means I do nothing on the neck 0, open right and then it says right over here the third string second fret so one, two third string over here second fret. So it is like, right, there you go. So that's how you read tabs. This has been Athena Reich in New York City."
