"This is Athena Reich and I'm a musician and an actor here in New York City and I also coach both music and acting. In this clip I'm going to talk about the fundamentals of singing. Well first of all breath is the energy that powers your voice. Breath comes in through your mouth, it goes down your throat and it goes into your lungs, and under your lungs is a diagram, it's an elastic muscle that you can relax by relaxing your belly and then more air will come in, so it's good to practice belly breathing. Now your vocal box is right here, and this is where your vocal cords are, and they're like two little flaps, so when you breathe in and you, (haaa), make a sound, you're making your vocal cords vibrate. Now you can put that- you can have that vibration resonate in different parts of your body, (haaa), you can put it more in my head, (haaa), you can put it more in my chest, (haaa), you can put it all through my body. This has been Athena Reich in the fundamentals of singing."
