"This is Athena Reich, and I'm a musician and an actor, here in New York City, and I also coach both music and acting. In this clip, I'm going to talk about how to make a music demo. You can do it two ways. You can get yourself a producer and pay them to do it for you, somebody who has a music studio, with all the equipment, and then you don't have to worry it. Or, to save money and to learn all about becoming a recording engineer, you can do it yourself. If you want to do it yourself, and you have a Mac computer, you can use garage band, which is a software program that comes free with your Mac. It's very relatively easy to use, and you can just record it yourself in your home, and make yourself a fantastic demo. If you don't have a Mac, you can purchase a program like pro tools, this is pro tools, and learn how to use it, and just, I, just like cake walk, it's pretty user friendly. And you can record your demo from your home. Now, a demo has three to five songs, it's not a full length album, and it can have, you know, professional packaging, like this, or it can have, simpler packaging. It doesn't matter because it's a demo. So it has three to five of your best songs, it can be as simple as you playing guitar and singing, or it can be as full fledged as a full band, it's up to you. But definitely want to make sure your songs are high quality and that the recordings are professional enough to show you in your best light. This has been Athena Reich in New York City."
