Fun Ways to Motivate Employees

"Hi, my name is Pat Goodwin with Pat Goodwin Associates. What are some fun ways to motivate employees? There's so many creative ways to motivate an employee and if you are part of a company and there's a suggestion box, I would certainly encourage you to drop in a suggestion about a way that a company can motivate employees. Some of the things that I've heard about in the past is the senior management team going up to their hotel, because they were managers of the hotel, a five star hotel, pulled up to the front on a Saturday morning and began washing cars of all the employees. They got so excited, the employees thought, "Wow, I can't believe the senior management team is rolling up their sleeves and washing my car." Another way would be a spot award, where you might want to have a different group, maybe the customer service manager to designate someone of the week who has had a great attitude or someone who really helped a customer on the phone and they might get a little gift certificate from some store that would just help them be excited and be motivated. There are other things, fun ways that you can motivate people by giving them a surprise day off or taking them to lunch. But, I think the best way to motivate employees is to say good morning, get up from your desk, walk out and ask how they're doing. Spend a little time with the employees, telling them to have a good day, encouraging them to make sure to let you know if there's any issues or problems that they to solve. To take a look at the positive ways that you can make your people feeling good, who come into the company, who want to come back the next day, put in a good day's work and feel good and positive about it. So, I think motivated employees is some fun things that can be done, the ones that I mentioned, as well as, again offering the suggestion box where other might have a meal brought in or celebrating their birthday. Just giving them a card every once in a while. Those small gestures are excellent ways that you can motivate an employee."
