thanks kelli. great tips. whenever i get my legs waxed i get awful bumps for about 10 days. I live in sunny california so i get waxed year round. what works best for me after getting waxed is to wait a day since my skin is quite irritated post-wax. i then apply an alcohol and fragrance free lotion. my dermatologist recommended a product called Barc bump down which has worked very well. it's a bit hard to find in stores in my area but i've had luck buying it online. hope this helps.

Hi I'm Kelli, I'm an aesthetician and a makeup artist at Ulta Salon and Cosmetics and I'm going to talk to you a little bit about getting rid of razor bumps. One of the first things that you can do is actually prevent the razor bumps from forming just by using a pre-shave scrub so if you get something that has a little bit of a green to it which just has just a smooth bead to it and you're just going to basically exfoliate the skin. What this does is it lifts the hair, it also helps unclog the follicles so if it does have any bacteria, dead skin buildup in there, and you shave over it the wrong way, it's not going to get infected. So use a scrub first. Go ahead and shave, you want to make sure that you're using an appropriate shave gel, don't shave with soap or anything like that that's going to leave a waxy buildup which can clog the follicles and lead to basically your ingrown hairs and your razor bumps because basically razor bumps are folliculitis, they're inflamed infected follicle, hair follicle and you can follow up with either a post shave spray or a topical treatment, this basically had it's salicylic acid which is going to help keep the pore really nice and clean. It's also going to exfoliate and it also has a lot of calming botanicals in it such as aloe. So by doing those things you can help to prevent and get rid of razor bumps and ingrown hairs.
