"Hi my name is Lauren and today I am here to discuss how often to get highlights touched up. People who are highlighting their hair have a little bit of an advantage over people who do a base color. A color retouch goes directly on the root and it can cause as it grows in a more of a striped look. Due to the fact that highlighting is only certain pieces of the hair it can last a lot longer without having to touch them up. They blend a lot better. Usually somebody would want to touch up their highlights about every ten to twelve weeks which is two and a half to three months. That means per year you are probably touching up your hair about three to four times a year. Because of the more naturalness of the highlight and the less pieces that it is taking you can get a little substantial amount of growth in before you go and get your hair lightened again. You also do not want to go over any prelightened hair. If you have already lightened those parts of your hair you want your stylist to really concentrate on your root in order to lighten and blend the color in rather than go over anything that has already been done so a little bit of regrowth is actually a good thing for your hair in order to maintain the integrity of your hair plus it will help you achieve the color that you like while maintaining the health of your hair, the luster and the shine and that is how often you should get your hair highlighted."
