"Hi, my name is Lauren, and today I'm here to discuss how to straighten hair with a perm. In order to straighten your hair with a perm you need to know the science behind your actual hair. Your hair is made out of keratin proteins as long as your nails and your outer layer of dermis. Those pro proteins are made up with hydrogen bonds, salt bonds, and disulfide bonds. Disulfide bonds are what is going to predict what the actual texture, or curl of your hair is going to be. Two sulfur atoms go to attract towards each other in order to meet. As they attract towards each other the hair is going to coil. The farthest distance they have to travel the kinkier your curl is going to be or the curlier it's going to be. It's going to be more of a spiral. Perms are meant to break down disulfide binds bonds, and also to help create more. You are ultimately breaking down the protein bonds of your hair, and then you are rebuilding them when you put on the neutralizer. In order to use a perm to straighten your hair rather than rolling a perm and putting perm rods in if you do not use the perm rods then your hair will not take to the shape of the rod. You are going to use the perming solution. You are going to simply put it in your hair from root to end, and remember you want to be a little bit careful. Wear gloves, it is a chemical. You are then going to simply continually comb your hair straight in order to get that straighter look. As the perm begins to process because you're kind of, you're combing it straight it's going to break down those proteins and once you neutralize it and go straight with it then it's going to help build those proteins back up in a straight manner. Minus the perm irons it will not give you a curl, but however, it can be used in order to straighten your hair. It is a little bit time effective just for the simple fact that it takes a little bit less processing time some than a straightener would. And that is how to straighten your hair with a perm."
