"Hi. My name is Lauren and today I'm here to discuss how does a curling iron heats up. With every curling irons there are pieces of metal that are poor conductors of electricity. As the curling iron stays on that resistance from those pieces of metal actually helps your curling iron steadily increase in temperature. And that way you can actually heat it up, cool it back down by shutting it off with your on/off switch. And then you can actually reheat it again. Because these pieces of metal are both steadily and slowly increased due to the resistance you can always adjust the temperatures to watt that you want it for your hair. Depending on the texture of your hair it would depend on the temperature that you want your curling iron to be set at. The resistance between will not go beyond that temperature so that way your hair will not heat up. Also another thing is with these metals your curling iron will never be actually able to burn your hair because of the temperature that it reaches. It will never reach a temperature where you can actually burn your hair off and break those carats and bonds. Adjust the temperature on according to your hair texture. Finer hair you'd want to go on more of your medium level and the coarser hair you can more to your hot, extra hot. And that will help form your curl and that is how a curling iron works."
