"Hi, I'm Tim Gibson. I'm going to talk to you about how to save money on heat. Now, when we look at heating our home, most of our heat loss is going to occur at our doors, and out our windows. Now, when we look at our doors, some of the ways that we can eliminate some of this heat loss and save money on heat is to make sure that around our openings here, is to keep our weather stripping in good condition. So, you can see here, we're starting to get a little bit of dimpling and if this was, if this would start to tear here, then what I'd want to do is I'd want to pop this out and replace it. And the way this is designed, this molding just pops in, as you can see it pops in the edge of the, of the door frame here. So it's very easy to get in and to get out. Now the next thing we can do on our door is to install a storm door, such as this. So a storm, storm door helps to seal this opening and helps to cut down on the draft. It also, when these two doors close, creates an additional air pocket in between here, which can be, add some excellent insulating qualities at your door. Now some things we can do around the window is, one thing we want to make sure around the outside of our fixed window, such as this, that they stay caulked on the outside. Some other things we can do is you can do is you can add what we call a, a film on this to help trap heat in your house during the winter. The other thing a film does is it actually helps reflect heat out in the summer where you're trying to keep it cooler. Some other things we could do is there are some film things that you can put over your window that actually seal this, and again, cut down on any air leaks out your window. But for the most part, if you make sure that your weather stripping is in good shape, and is continuous around your doors, and that your windows are sealed well, you can eliminate a lot of the leaks that you have in your energy. So I'm Tim Gibson, and that's some tips on how to save money on heating."
