Hi, I'm Tim Gipson, and I'm going to talk to you about how to choose crown molding. Now, when you're looking at crown molding, you've got to look at the kind of look, that you're trying to achieve in the room. Now, the most simple crown molding, is something like this, with a simple profile. It usually has a detail piece down here at the bottom, and some kind of larger curved piece up here, and crown molding comes in various sizes, whether it's two and a quarter, three and a quarter, four and a quarter, so this actually comes in different widths. Now, the larger widths would be for taller ceilings, the narrow widths for shorter ceilings, so if you have an eight foot ceiling height, you'd want to choose a narrower profile, of your crown molding, and then as your ceilings get taller, then you can do some larger, wider, crown moldings, and do some interesting things, and you can use something that even has a small profile. If you have say, an attic room, or something you've finished out, and you need to finish out, this would be, even this simple molding would work good as a crown, just to finish out some areas, where you have some really low ceilings. Now, one thing you'll see in some newer houses, is you can actually combine some different type of moldings with your crowns, so in this case, we could take this base, and we could actually install it upside down, and we'll use this table to simulate the wall, so we could actually set this up, where we could install the crown, and you could set this up, and this is something good to do, where you have really tall ceilings, to set up some various steps to your molding, so we could put the base on upside down. We could put this, and then we've actually dropped down, with a thinner strip, tighten this area in between, and as you can see, you can get some dramatic looks, and there's various things that we can do. The more you stack, the bigger profile that you can get, on your crown molding, so there's some very simple things you can do, when choosing crown molding, or there's some really extravagant things, depending on what type of look, that you want to get, all the way up to a really high end look, for your very tall ceilings, so I'm Tim Gipson, and that's how to choose crown molding.
