"Hi my name is Dave Andrews and today I am going to talk to you about 500 gigabyte hard drives. Let me start out by telling you that 500 gigabytes is a lot of space for todays needs. I have actually done some work on a television station where we use two 500 gig hard drives to hold all of our data, all of our shows for that station so it is important to keep in mind that 500 gigs is a lot of space. Now they are actually making external hard drives now that reach up to about 500 gigs and you can use those simply as just a simple usb hard drive, just plug it in and then you have 500 gigabytes of storage available to you. One thing to keep in mind is that hard drives are very fallible and they tend to fail and the larger hard drive that you have the more data that you have stored on it and the more backing up that you are going to have to do of that data so the only reason I would see to have a 500 gigabyte hard drive at this point in time would be if you are going to be doing a lot of multimedia work, a lot of high quality video work, a lot of photography because that is what tends to really really eat up hard drive space. Now speaking of that external hard drive I have an example of one here. This one you can just purchase at a computer store and it will hold a lot of data for you. My name is Dave Andrews and I have just talked to you about 500 gig hard drives."
