What is an artist? Within the context of what we have been talking about in this video series I would say an artist is someone who creatively expresses themselves and their ideas through a visual medium of some kind, and this can mean many, many things. It can mean through simple one-sheet illustrations or paintings. Someone who conveys a thought or an emotion or an idea through just one image, and does so with in a way that impacts people; it connects with people. Another interpretation would be can be someone that is creates a series of images, and tells a story through not just one image but several; an animator or a graphic novelist. These are all, obviously, different forms of expression, but at the end of the day the core definition of an artist is someone who creates a world, creates a thought, a feeling, an emotion, a and inspires people through a visual, creative, artistic medium. That, essentially, is what an artist is.
