"O'kay folks in this clip we are going to talk about how to draw a sketch when designing clothes. Now the first thing you are going to want to do is get a really good pencil and start out by just laying in a basic human design, human form. Sketch a really rough human outline, not just any human outline, one that you can easily fit any sort of undetermined outfit on. I recommend drawing them with their hands on their hips. It is a great way to see the entire arm at the same time create sort of an interesting pose and you know just kind of lay in a rough outline for whatever it is you are going to do and next you are going to want to establish what is it that we are going to be drawing here. Is it going to be a coat, a blouse, a shirt, this case we will make it a shirt so start to kind of go in and lay in the early design for this shirt. Do you want it to have a ruffle down the front, do you want it to have a low sort of a V-neck style cut, do you want it to have puffed sleeves? The thing about doing this in pencil is you can take ideas, lay them out there, start to sketch in early concepts of what you think it might end up looking like but then you are not limited by the ink obviously in that you can come in and design things that maybe weren't part of your original plan. You can change your vision midway through but when doing a sketch for any sort of a fashion it always starts with a pencil and it ought to be done in a manner that you can easily go in and make changes if you want. So always use a pencil when you are doing early preliminary sketches. Make sure it is a pose that looks relatively interesting, give your sketch a little bit of personality, a little bit of life so that you can kind of get a feel of what it is that you are trying to accomplish and then just sort of lay out the general plan, the general sketch for future people to come in and evaluate take a look at and that way you can improve upon it as time goes on. Obviously you will have to have an eraser handy if you are going to make any big changes but working with the freedom of a pencil really allows you to explore ideas and not feel necessarily afraid of going back and correcting your work later so when you are sketching in the world of fashion this is essentially how you do a preliminary sketch."
