"My name is Dr. David Wagner. Northwood Dental in Clearwater, Florida. So a cavity. Your dentist often tells you you need to get a filling. And that is going to take care of a cavity in your tooth so what is this and how does he do it. The cavity is a hole in your tooth. And in this diagram you an see the brown area which has penetrated through the white enamel and tied to the yellow part of the tooth which we call the dentin. The inside part of the tooth is much softer. If this hole or cavity is allowed to progress it would get larger and larger and go into this pulp or nerve. So this cannot be allowed. Now here you can see where the tooth has been actually cleaned out and a dark representation which is a filling has placed in the area to stop the progress of the decay. Of course now a days we use white fillings. And that's how we do or repair cavities. I'm Dr. David Wagner. Northwood Dental, Clearwater, Florida."
