"Have you ever heard your friends or even some poker commentators talk about a game called six handed poker and you were kind of wondering what it was? My name is Dean Hale, poker pro, and today I'm going to tell you exactly what six handed poker is. There is no difference in six handed poker versus a full ring game where you might have nine or ten players at the table. Six handed poker merely means that the number of players on the table is limited to six players. In a six handed poker game, the key concept is understanding that your starting value of your hands needs to be lowered to adjust for the fact that there is less players at the table. Where in a full ring game, if you have say pocket eights or pocket nines, there may be some question as whether you should play those cards or not in certain position. In a six handed game, those cards are a lot more powerful because there's less chance that those other players may have cards that are above that. The cards are still dealt out the same way. Two cards for each player face down. Then you would have a betting round, then you would have the flop which would be three cards face up, the turn or forth street and then the river would be your fifth card. You still play your best five cards out of the five community cards that are on the table and your two hole cards. Again, the key concept in six handed poker is lower your starting value of your hands and you'll go a long way to playing that game well. My name is Dean Hale and I've just taught you some of the basics of playing six handed poker."
