"How to become an international news reporter. I'm Glenn Selig and I spent two decades in TV news in front of the camera. And now I am CEO of Selig Multimedia. Becoming an international news reporter by people in the industry is usually called a foreign correspondent, somebody who works overseas usually for an American television radio station or something like that. How do you do that? Well, it's not an easy thing to do but probably one of the first things that you need to get a grasp of is international relations. Know how all the countries intermingle. Now how we live in the global environment. That it isn't all about the United States even though when we live in the United States we often think that there are no other countries. But we begin to realize that we all are interconnected. It helps to know a foreign language and it helps to understand a certain politics of that country perhaps that you want to go to. Sometimes becoming an international correspondent isn't as difficult as you might think because you might have a particular interest in a particular country because of your upbringing or because you have family there, or because simply you want to go there and other people do not. And one of the best ways to get there if you're willing to do this is to go overseas to become a foreign correspondent during war time. Because you'll be putting your life at risk bringing that news story home to the people in the United States. A lot of people simply don't want to do that. They don't want to put their lives on the line so if you volunteer for it, you've got the international politics, you've got that interest. You too may be able to become one day a foreign correspondent. And that's how you become an international news reporter. I'm Glenn Selig."
