"Hi, I'm Harvey Woodyatt owner of Perfect Tan here in Orem, Utah. We're a full service tanning salon. We have over 20 tanning beds, as well as a state of the art spray-on system. People often ask me how do they develop, or how do they get a tan, a dark tan. The best way to do that is you have to be consistent with your tanning, you know, start out slow, build your tan to a good base. Another way of getting a dark tan is you want to make sure that you're using a good indoor tanning lotion. The reason is, is you want your skin to stay moisturized, and that's why a tanning lotion is important, and it has to be indoor tanning approved, or it will hurt the acrylic. It's kind of like a dry sponge, versus a wet sponge. A wet sponge, will pick up more water than a dry sponge. The same is true if you're tanning indoors. You want your skin to be moisturized. You're tan will develop a darker tan quicker. We usually tell people almost 40%, you'll develop a darker tan 40% faster by using a good indoor tanning lotion. If you're not using a lotion, and you're just laying there without a good indoor tanning lotion, it's going to be 40% less effective. It's almost like having a piece of bacon laying in a frying pan. Stay moist during your tan, and then at home use a good moisturizing treatment, and you'll keep your tan a lot longer, and won't have to come back as much. So stay moisturized all the time. That's the key to building a tan, and keeping your tan."
