Does Oil Make You Tan Faster?

"Hi, I'm Harvey Whittier, and I'm owner of Perfect Tan, here in Orem, Utah. We're a full service tanning salon. We offer twenty different types of tanning beds, as well as a spray on system. I often get asked, Is it ok to use baby oil or oil when tanning? and the answer is, it is ok outside, if you want to, but I wouldn't recommend it, and the reason is, that it has no SPF factor in it, or sunscreen, so you are going to get burned. We definitely do not allow oil into our tanning beds. They will eat the acrylic, and the acrylic in a typical tanning bed, can cost anywhere from two hundred dollars, to a thousand dollars, and we've had that happen before, so absolutely, you do not want to use oil in a tanning salon, and definitely I would not recommend it outside. We do have different products. We have indoor tanning lotions, that are approved, for tanning beds. You can't use them outside also, but again, remember they do not have any SPF factor in it, so you're going to get burned, if you use them outdoors, but definitely indoors, oil is not recommended, and I really wouldn't recommend it even tanning outdoors."
