"A piece of the turntable that's easily overlooked is the weight. On the back of the arm there's a weight meter that you can pull it back to have less weight, push it forward to have more weight, you can just spin it like that, you could probably just push it, oh no, this one works. Oftentimes on older turntables you'll find it broken, you literally just have to push it forward, but this is nice, it works, so you can spin it back, forward. The weight affects how much weight is being put on the head in relation to the record. So more weight will actually have the head riding closer to the record, and it's a little bit worse for your record, but you might need to do that when your needle is running out, because when your needle's getting near the end it will start to skip, more weight will make it not skip. Less weight's a little better for your record, but then again, you have a higher chance of skipping. People back in the day actually used to just put quarters, I think it's called "quartering", right on the head to add weight, but with these kind of nice turntables you've got your weight right there."
