"Hi, I'm Rebecca Guenther with www.m5a1photography.com and I'm going to talk to you about what is lighting diffusion. Lighting diffusion is when you have a light and you diffuse it by putting a translucent piece of fabric in front of it such as this example right here. The white fabric is somewhat see-through and it makes it possible for the light to shine through it and it will come out softer. This way it's not a harsh light with a harsh shadow. It's going to surround the subject and make the shadows less harsh. For example: the noon sun is going to shine very harsh and it's going to give a very strong shadow on the ground, but if there are clouds in front of the sun, you'll notice that there are fewer shadows and the shadows that are there, are a lot more scattered out and it makes everything look way softer, and that's lighting diffusion."
