"Hi, I'm Laura from youngwritersworkshops.com and I'm going to talk about how to home school in Virginia. Now, Virginia has several different options for how to legal, legally go about homeschooling and I do want to let you know that sometime, sometimes these legis, this legislation does change so you should definitely check with your state department of education, your common wealth department of education, just to confirm all of these things. There, one of the options is to register as a home school which is a, a something that needs to be filed by Oc, August Fifteenth with the state, and there's certain requirements that you must meet if you are going to do this option such as some qualifications for the parents who'll be teaching and there's certain things such as taking attendance, and these kind of records that you'll need to keep. So the other ways you could do it is with a religious freedom exemption by becoming a certified tutor in the state of Virginia, which is a one-time certification that you need to obtain, or, to organize as a private school with other families. So, those are the four options and again, there's specific things with the, within each of those options that you'll want to check out so that you're meeting, fulfilling all the obligations. In this state, you are able to take AP and PSAT tests for free, as a homeschooling family, so that's good to know about. You'll want to connect with your state education office to, in order to be able to take those tests. Others within, depending on which option you've chosen to become a home school and co, you may also have to do yearly standardized testing which again, is available through the state. In any of these situations, you'll want to create a network or social circle for your stu, your kids, your students, for them to have some social learning that they do and to have experience with other kids their age, have fun while they're learning and doing some of the extracurricular things that you want to include in their lives as well. So I recommend finding a local group that you can become part of and then checking with your state department of education so that you're able to fulfill all the requirements for legal homeschooling in Virginia."
