"Did you know that there is almost 300,000 species of insects, that scientists have identified so far? Most of them you've probably never even heard of, but I'll bet you're familiar with this one, the mosquito. The mosquito is definitely one of the most well known, perhaps you could say the most infamous of insects, that are out there. Well, I'm Janice Creneti. I'm here to talk to you today, about what eco system can Asian Tiger Mosquitoes be found in? The Asian Tiger Mosquito is the one that I have on my screen right here. Well, in general, mosquitoes like a lot of insects, tend to prefer climates that are a little bit more warm. Mosquitoes are very dependent on water. It's where they lay their eggs, and they can't complete their life cycle without it, so they're always going to be found close to water. What's starting to happen now, is people are traveling all over the globe though, is that sometimes animals are too. You see, this Asian species is now pretty much all over the world, everywhere except Antarctica. It's what we call a non-native, or an invasive species. All of the sudden it's showing up somewhere where it doesn't belong, and that's the case with the Asian Tiger Mosquito over here, so while it came from a place that tended to be warm and wet, we now find them in places like that, all the way up to the high mountain tops, where it's actually pretty cold, and pretty dry. These guys can be kind of difficult to get rid of. One of the tricks though for managing mosquitoes, is to make sure you don't have any standing water around. That's one of their favorite places to lay their eggs, so if you'd like to control the eco system, where you would find these Asian Tiger Mosquitoes, try to keep standing water out of containers, and that way, they won't be able to lay their eggs. I'm Janice Creneti, and this is what eco system can an Asian Tiger Mosquito be found in?"
