"Moving on down the line of appropriate wave forms for the 3xOsc, we'll now be discussing the square wave. Just as usual, we'll be using the same window, and to make the 3xOsc play just the square wave, we're going to select all three oscillators to have the square wave on, and this is what it sounds like. It's really very abrasive on its basic form because really what it's doing is making the speaker go from one area to the other area immediately, and it's very sharp, very abrasive sound. However, what you really wouldn't expect is that most people use square waves to make bass sounds. It also sounds very abrasive, but when the appropriate tweaking occurs, you can use it to make a very clean sounding, a very unique sounding bass used mostly in the German bass genre or for making stuff like orchestra brass sounds with game councils like the NES or even the Play Station 2 for applications as late as that."
