"Break beat is probably a term you've heard before in terms of the genre of music, but break beat really means is a break from the usual beat like four to the floor for example. I'll show you what that means. Say we have a four to the floor beat right here. You've got your hat and your snares and your kicks. What a break beat is, is that you take the beat which is the four to the floor here and you break it. You take the kicks and you put it other place that they were before; not on the beats. They come out something like this. So really, it kind of feels like free style drumming. So, really whenever you hear freestyle drumming on the radio or anything it's called a break beat. That's what it is. Break beats are used as far as like actual break beat genre, drum and bass or even country western as long as you use break beats. It's pretty widely accepted form of drumming and if you get acquainted with it you'll go far with it."
