"The last disclaimer that I want to talk about is the cognitive disclaimer. And this is the one, this is actually my favorite, and I use this one a lot because this is the one that says to the person that you're having a conversation with, 'I am in full control of my faculties. I do have it together'. And what's funny about this is the most popular disclaimer that's a cognitive disclaimer, is 'you may think I'm crazy, but listen to the logic here.' Alright? You are admitting to that person that they may think you're crazy, but you're not crazy. There is some logic here. And do you see how this is better than just blurting out, 'my logic is totally different, my logic is right'? With all of these disclaimers, you're softening the blow. 'Listen, you might think I'm crazy, but hear me out on this.' 'Listen, you could think I'm crazy, but I want to explain to you what I've thought through on this.' Alright? So, if you anticipate anything negative from the person you're speaking to, start practicing throwing out the disclaimers."
