"In this video I'll be talking about scale structure. So to build a major scale, first you need to have a root. Let's start with F. This is the root of your scale. Now in the major scale there are seven notes. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven and you're back to one. There's a pattern to build the notes. Now when you finger the space between the first finger and the fourth finger is a whole step. The space between each finger is a half step. So the major scale, you start on the root and it goes whole step, whole step, half step, whole step, whole step, whole step, half step. No matter where you are as long as you have a root, you can build a major scale using those whole steps and half steps."
