"In this clip for teaching hip-hop dance to kids, we'll be talking about popping. Popping is the contraction and release of the muscles. You can pop all different muscles in your bodies. You can pop your arm muscles using your bicep and your triceps or your forearm flexor and extensor. You can pop your chest, using your pectoral muscles. You can pop your knees, I mean, you can do knee bops using your quads, your calves, and your hamstrings. And, popping came from the west coast, it came from Fresno, California and it was invented by a guy named Boogaloo Sam. It was then brought over to the east coast by a guy named Adolfo Quinones or Shaba Doo. A lot of people came, dancers were traveling from the east coast to the west coast and they brought popping over to the east coast. It came in about the late 1960's. Popping is a whole separate art form within hip-hop dance, and there's lots of different types of popping within that art form."
