"Hello I'm Tena with Princess Pools. We have came back to the pool and as you can see everything has worked. We brushed the pool down, we have chocked, we vacuumed and now we are back and we have a lovely looking pool and we are ready to treat it to balance it for swimming season. First off we are going to start with some test strips and these are your normal accucheck test strips which test for ph, your free chlorine, total alkalinity, and stabilizer. There are other test strips that are more elaborate. We have one here that tests for everything. It tests for your total hardness, total chlorine, free chlorine, ph, total alkalinity and cyanic acid. We also have another that is a little more elaborate that I like to carry with me. It is not for the average home owner it does a little bit too much maybe. Now we are going to test the water. You put the test strip in about six inches down. You hold it up to your meter on the back and take the reading. This is normal for when we are starting up a pool. Most of the time they have to be completely balanced. You have to be able to balance a pool to be able to hold chlorine or whatever type chemical you are going to use on your opening and throughout the season."
